 esearch project GAPPP – Gamified Audiovisual Performance and Performanc
 e Practice has been launched at the Institute of Electronic Music and Aco
 ustics – IEM – of the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz\, i
 n which a team of researchers investigates the artistic potential of elem
 ents from computer games in the context of audiovisual composition and p
 erformance. A large number of questions that are grouping around this k
 ey interest have been investigated and more than a dozen new artistic wo
 rks have been composed and performed that explored those questions from a
  practical side.In the symposium Gamified Composition and Performance 
 – a Symposium in Artistic Research the most significant outcomes from 
 this research project will be presented in the form of talks and artisti
 c performances. The symposium gathers an international mix of artists\, p
 erformers and speakers from the fields of game philosophy\, game theor
 y\, game-based audiovisual art and musicology. A large number of pe
 rformances of works will be presented that have been created as part of t
 he GAPPP research\, or which have specially been commissioned for this sy
 mposium.The focus of the symposium not only lies in the reflection of the
  findings of this particular research project\, but in discussing and ope
 ning up new questions and perspectives that emerge from the intermixture 
 of artistic practice\, aesthetics\, game elements and mechanics.The progr
